PET- imaging without CT. C T-free PET reduces radiation dose. In PET imaging, CT should be used for attenuation correction and localization. Low-dose CT increases the patient's dose. Attenuation map misregistration frequently happens in PET-CT imaging. A new revolution is coming soon in the nuclear imaging world. The lutetium crystal contains 3 % of Lu-176 which can be used to create an attenuation map of the patient. Lu-176 emits 202 and 307 keV gamma photons. Lu-176 can be used to scan the patient for attenuation correction. This revolution would reduce the patient dose, eliminate the misregistration map attenuation, and can be used for PET-MRI attenuation correction procedures.
